Prompt: We had no keyword for the class that I am aware of so I put memory. The assignment for this project was to interview a classmate. The interview could be set in anytime in the future or present. Based on the interview, we had to create a magazine cover and spread that reflects the era we set the interview in and interviewee. The magazine we focused on as a class was Warhol's magazine, Interview Magazine.
For my focus, I decided to interview my partner, Emily Ann Toth, 50 years in the future, so the year 2070. I imagine by 2070, the United States would a democratic socialist country, and would be going through a neo-psychedelic movement. The article I wrote would also be honoring the work and life of Emily Ann Toth because she had just died. Based on those details, I, Giovanni Gutierrez, as a “creative director” carefully chose/made the fonts, colors, and imagery, plus layout to reflect the time and my partner Emily Ann Toth. The aesthetics were aimed at a futuristic interpretation of the psychedelic movement of the late 20th century. The cover is of the earth being sewn back together because it reflects Emily Ann Toth’s life’s work. She wants to help the fashion industry be more sustainable and be a politician.
