Magic Spoon Brand Refresh
Class of: 2026
Major: Communication Design BFA
Medium: Digital presentation slides
Faculty: Karelyn Siegler
Prompt: For the second half of the semester, we worked on creating a brand refresh for an existing product. Over the course of 8 weeks, we worked on building new concepts, logos, panel designs, brand toolkits, advertisements, dielines, and a brand activation.
I chose to rebrand Magic Spoon, a healthy breakfast cereal with all the flavor. I wanted to emphasize the amazing ingredients they use and was prompted to market this to 21-34 year-olds. I started first by creating a hand-drawn logo to create an organic feel. I then cleaned this up in Adobe Illustrator and created a versatile brand toolkit. With this toolkit, I created cohesive brand packaging, advertisements, and a physical activation. Through this project, I created stuff I never had before for a real, existing brand. As an artist, everything I was creating had to look cohesive though the mediums would vary from posters to an interactive event. I had to constantly push myself to think outside of the box while keeping my work similar to the rebranded box I created. Though this project was new and daunting, I found that being curious and pushing your limits leads you to feel more accomplished in the end.
