The Little Lover Project

Class of: 2025

Major: Integrated Design BFA

Medium: Sculpture, fashion design, graphic design

Faculty: Ivan Eguigure / Juan Jose Robles

Prompt: This project is several bridge projects and side projects based on creating an alter-ego for oneself. This little man, whom I call my Little Lover, is a personification of my heart as if it had jumped from my chest.

The Little Lover Project was born from this tiny sculpture, which is, to the best of my ability, what I believe my heart would look like if it had its own body. Bold and bright, but vulnerable, hence the window inside of him to his own heart. It is meant to represent the uncontrollable and scary nature of the vulnerability of love.

From the making of the Little Lover came this jacket, which serves as a sort of merch for the campaign that the Little Lover has become. The jacket sports hearts up and down the sleeves, as well as heart-shaped pockets, an idea born, of course, from the idiom of “wearing your heart on your sleeve”.

Since those two initial projects, The Little Lover campaign has launched, the goal of which is to prompt people to think about things that they love. You may have seen his posters around the Parsons 2W 13th building, laden with images of him and QR codes linking to a place where people can anonymously share and confess about things that they love. He has taught me a lot about myself and the way in which I love, and in sharing him and our journey, I hope to do the same for everyone else that meets him. In the meantime, keep up with him, tell him about things that you love.
